Welcome to the PAHdb Molecular Modeling Site.  The aim of this web site is to serve as an online gallery of the latest in the 3-dimensional modeling of the phenylalanine hydroxylase enzyme (EC 1.14.16.1) and to map mutations to the affected region of the protein. Included on this site are high-resolution still and animated representations of the protein and the active site.

Stills

  • NORMAL FORM
    • Full-length views
      • Figure 1 Structure of the phenylalanine hydroxylase full-length model
      • Figure 2 Ribbon diagram representations of the PheOHCterm and TyrOHCterm tetramers
      • Figure 3 The domains of the phenylalanine hydroxylase full-length model
      • Figure 4 C-alpha trace of one monomer of a full-length model of phenylalanine hydroxylase
    • Active site views
      • Figure 5 Close-up of the active site surrounding the catalytic iron
      • Figure 6 A view of seven of the residues lining the active site that cause PKU/HPA (another view)
  • MUTATED FORM
Close-ups of several mutations including hydrogen bonding
